On August 22, 2008, the Department of Health and Human Services released Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) CMS-0013-P – HIPAA Administrative Simplification: Modification to Medical Data Code Set Standards to Adopt ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS. This NPRM proposes to implement the ICD-10-CM/PCS Coding System on October 1, 2011.
